Princess Fantasies by maina Princess Fantasies by maina
My very first finished acrylic painting. Please excuse the simplicity of the subject in this submission. What I really wanted was to try acrylics out and see what I could do with them. I chose something rather easy to draw, didn't elaborate a story around it either.

Acrylics on canvas are also very difficult to scan. I just discovered that. The original painting looks a lot better in person than the digital version. If anyone's got a few pointers on how to scan unstretched canvas correctly, feel free to tell me! I need all the help I can get in that department! *laughs*

I hadn't painted a princess in a while, so that was a lot of fun to do!

8x10 acrylics on unstretched canvas.

I don't know much about arcrylics, but I think you did well with them! Very pretty design. You got the colored to blend really nicely - I especially like how they do so on her face.

I love how the picture is bright, and vibrant. Very detailed, even for an acrylic painting.

Scanning on unstreacthed canvas...erm....personally I would take a picture of it with good lighting, and crop it and do lighting effects with photoshop so that it isnt blurry or too dark. Avoid the scanner entirely (in my opinion, yours may be different.)

I should draw a comic on how I tried to stuff my canvas into the scanner...funny story....

This is very good for a first :) I know I can't attempt a good acrylic painting yet. Need more practice @_@

I like the character concept too. Although it's simple for the sake of the practice, she's very eyecatching. Her dress reminds me of pincushions!

Beautiful painting regardless of the scan, I'd suggest photographing it (outside, with a digital camera, best on a cloudy day)

I'd say that all of those tiny details wouldn't be very easy or simple to do... But you did them very nicely  She looks really neat the way you did her.
