Faery Stories: The Fruit

At the beginning, this wasn't supposed to be part of my fairy book, but after the sketching, I turned out inspired to do a story about this dryad. The sketch wasn't exactly like this either though.

The story is the following:

How do dryads get born? That's what she was wondering, she never met another dryad in her life, but she did see the animals of the forest having small versions of themselves. So she thought: "Maybe, I could have a baby". The next day, an fruit was hanging in one of her branches. "OH OH! My very own baby! It doesn't look quite like me, but I will take care of it with all my heart." She sang it lullabies, told it stories, made sure it had just enough water when it rained and enough sunlight when the sun showed up. But one day, she woke up again, to find the apple rot on the ground. She cried so much. No one could console her. For many days, she didn't want to talk to anyone. But still, after a few weeks of sun and rain... The fruit gave birth to a wonderful baby dryad.


I KNOW! it's cheesy! XD I don't care! The drawing itself didn't scan like the original. Unfortunetly. But I think it still gives a good idea.
